Where: Sycamore Creek Tonto National Forest- Tonto National Forest (32 miles north of Fort McDowell Casino- RT 87)
Collecting Material: Red, light tan and brown jasper & green serpentine

Kick off Meeting Location: Sun Lakes Country Club (Phase One)
Kick off Meeting Time: 7:00am. Leave SLCC at 7:15am
Rally Point: Chevron Gas Station, 10180 N. Fort McDowell Rd (Across from Fort McDowell Casino:
Rally Point Meeting Time: 8:00am. Leave 8:30am or earlier if everyone is accounted for and ready.
Off Paved Road Condition: Gravel 2 Miles, dirt and slightly rocky for 2 miles
Vehicle Type: Any High Clearance passenger vehicle if driven carefully through a short rocky unpaved road.
Estimated Collection Site Arrival Time: 9:15am
Estimated Round Trip Mileage: 144 miles
Parking Limitations: 5-6 vehicles at rock collection camp
Terrain: Wash basin is flat, but a little rocky up and down wash basin
Collecting Method: Float in wash basin. Large rocks can be found with some easy digging or a slight walk south or north of basin area.
Tools Needed: Shovel, pick, pry bar, collecting bag or 5 gallon bucket.
Collecting Limitations: 25 lbs./day/person (fit in a 5 gallon bucket) & one rock up to 250 lbs./ year/person. http://www.blm.gov/as/st/en/prog/recreation/rockhnd/limits.html
Safety recommendations: Hard Hat, safety glasses, hiking boots, gloves, cell phone, whistle (if no cell phone service), first aid kit, drinking water, sun-screen, appropriate clothing, extra shoes & bag . I checked out the site last week and there is water in the creek.
Lunch: May wish to bring lunch to eat at camp ground collection site at 1:00pm.
Leaving Collection site: 12:45pm Sharp!
Arrive home: Around 2:15pm

Comments: Route 87 heading to Payson is a climbing and easy switch-back highway after the Fort McDowell area. The mountain scenery leading to the collection site is once again awesome. Will get a close passing view of the Four Peaks Mountain area and see the Weaver's Needle Mountain at a distance.
